#FeatureFriday: AARI holds joint meeting with student activists from LSU

One of AARI’s goals for the Spring 2021 semester was to meet with collegiate music students engaged in justice work at other institutions. We were pleased this week to gather with some wonderful folks from Louisiana State University and exchange stories, experiences, and ideas. It was an energizing hour that ended too soon (!), but that affirmed the importance of social justice work within our schools and spurred us forward to ensure joint meetings like this happen regularly.

We were happy to learn of how much our groups have in common, including some of the initiatives underway. And, we are eager to begin working toward new ideas we heard from our colleagues at LSU. They were kind enough to share some of their resources, including their school’s diversity webpage, which we encourage you to add to your own list of models and resources for active antiracism in music communities.

Go Dawgs and Geaux Tigers!
