AARI's MusicBox

AARI’s MusicBox spotlights upcoming performances of music by composers from underrepresented populations, or music with a justice-related theme.

MusicBox is open to recitals/performances of anyone in our community: students, faculty, and staff.

If you are interested in collaborating, please complete this short form at least two weeks before your performance date.  An AARI committee member will reach out to schedule a short (~3-minute) interview that can include an excerpt of the music you’re featuring.  We’ll produce and release these interviews a few days before your performance as features on HHSOM social media and the AARI website, for your use as performance publicity.*  The form allows you to choose the direction of your interview, and select your recording preference (virtually or in-person).

Please consider collaborating with us as we work to amplify musical voices we need to hear in order to make our community more equitable.  Spread the word and stay tuned for more ways to get involved soon!

P.S. - Are you interested in performing music by underrepresented composers but unsure where to start?  Use the resources on this website to guide your search!

*At this time, we are only preparing MusicBox segments in advance, but we hope to expand the program so that the interviews could happen in the context of your performance (pre-, post-, or during-concert talks).  Stay tuned as our initiative evolves!
